Learning Beyond the Workshop

The Difficult Part Starts When You Begin Scanning on Your Own

A workshop can teach you probe orientation, basic views and ultrasound principles. But developing confidence requires repeated scanning, correction and continued practice.

POCUS Mentor is designed to support clinicians during that learning period by providing practical educational feedback on image acquisition and technique.

Am I holding the probe correctly?
Is this the view I am supposed to obtain?
Should I change the depth or gain?
Why is my image quality poor?
What should I practise next?
Simple Learning Process

How POCUS Mentor Works

A simple feedback pathway designed to help you recognise mistakes, improve technique and become more consistent with image acquisition.

01

Perform Your Scan

Carry out your POCUS examination during your normal supervised learning or clinical practice.

02

Submit Your Image or Clip

Upload a fully de-identified ultrasound image or short video for educational review.

03

Faculty Reviews Your Technique

Your submission is reviewed with emphasis on image acquisition, probe orientation and optimisation.

04

Receive Practical Feedback

Get focused comments on what you did well, what could be improved and what to try next.

05

Repeat the Scan

Apply the recommendations during your next scan and compare your image quality.

06

Build Your Skills Over Time

Continue scanning, reviewing and documenting your learning as your confidence develops.

Educational Review

What Can Your Mentor Review?

Feedback focuses on developing better scanning habits and improving the technical quality of your POCUS images.

Probe Position
Probe Orientation
Image Quality
Depth Settings
Gain Optimisation
View Acquisition
Anatomical Landmarks
Practice Recommendations

What Does Mentor Feedback Look Like?

Feedback is kept practical so that you can apply it during your next scanning session.

Example Educational Feedback

Your pleural line is visible, but the image is deeper than required. Reduce the depth and position the probe slightly more perpendicular to the ribs. Keep the pleural line in the upper part of the screen and repeat the scan in the same zone to compare image quality.

Build Your POCUS Learning Logbook

Regular practice becomes more meaningful when you can see your progress. Depending on your plan, your learning record can help you document scan categories, submitted cases and mentor feedback.

This gives you a clearer view of what you are practising regularly and which skills may require further attention.

Because POCUS Is Learned by Scanning

Videos and lectures can explain an ultrasound view. Developing the skill to acquire that view consistently requires practice, correction and repetition.

01

Practise Regularly

Build familiarity with probe movements, patient positioning and common acoustic windows.

02

Recognise Your Mistakes

External feedback can help identify technical problems that may otherwise become repeated habits.

03

Improve the Next Scan

Use specific recommendations to make your next scanning attempt more focused and technically consistent.

Important Educational & Clinical Notice

POCUS Mentor is an educational and professional-development service intended to provide feedback on ultrasound image acquisition, scanning technique, image optimisation and practical POCUS learning.

It is not a formal diagnostic reporting service and should not be used as a substitute for radiology reporting, specialist consultation, clinical assessment, emergency medical care or local institutional protocols.

All submitted images and clips must be fully de-identified. Patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth and other identifying information should not be submitted.

Responsibility for patient diagnosis, treatment and clinical decision-making remains with the treating healthcare professional and relevant healthcare institution.
